For Qeelin’s Beijing store we were asked to create a window display encompassing their theme of playful fusing of Chinese symbolism and modernity. As the jewellery brand carries rich cultural connotation, reinterpreting traditional symbols we wanted to display that distinction. We chose to incorporate the symbolism of clouds being that in Chinese culture it represents bringing something beneficial and the movement of the gods. The clouds and pastel colours were easily applied to incorporate a whimsical feel, aligning with the jewellery design. Bold traditional Chinese reds were used to juxtapose the colour and give that bold persuasive “come look at me” feel. Fitting with the theme flowers native to the area were designed in 3D as well into the background to bring the display to life.
